Home 4 the Holidays
We were recently contacted for our support in reaching out to people about Home 4 the Holidays, a worldwide pet adoption and awareness program. Those involved in these efforts have submitted an article for us to share with all of our furiends. Please read, pass along, comment on the article, or adopt a pet this holiday season to show your support.
Home 4 the Holidays is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, pet adoption programs in the world. With 18 countries and almost 3,000 shelters, humane societies, and animal rescue organizations participating, Home 4 the Holidays has set a goal to place 1 million orphaned animals into happy and loving homes this holiday season from October 1, 2008 to January 5, 2009. Founded by Helen Woodward Animal Center in 1999, Iams Home 4 the Holidays harnesses the power of nearly 3,000 worldwide animal organizations in a global effort to raise awareness about the importance of pet adoption. With shelter crowding at an all-time high, Home 4 the Holidays' goal takes on even more importance, because each animal adopted from a shelter saves a life.
This year's celebrity spokesperson for Home 4 the Holidays is Felicity Huffman and her dog Tucker, a black Labrador mix she got as a puppy from a Los Angeles rescue group in 2006. "I'm proud to be a part of Iams Home 4 the Holidays to help raise
awareness about the importance of pet adoption so we can place 1 million animals in loving homes this holiday season," said Huffman. "When our family decided to get a new pet, we chose to adopt, and now, Tucker is more than a wonderful pet, he's part of our family."

Stories like that of Tucker happened 500,000 times last year, thanks to Home 4 the Holidays. By providing resources and information about participating rescues and shelters, potential pet owners are encouraged to visit animal shelters and rescues involved in Home 4 the Holidays to adopt dogs, cats or other animals waiting for a home when they are considering a new four-legged family member. To find a shelter involved in Home 4 the Holidays near you, please visit this site: http://www.animalcenter.org/home4theholidays/shelter_map.aspx And please, consider pet adoption this holiday season.

Sincerely,
